Downloaded, transformed, pasted, the free pngs migrate over the complex information network and landed at the NewHomeland.

This archival project inquiries into the open-access online image resources that are frequently used on mass-produced home accessories, reflecting on the mode of production enabled by highly democratized digital tools.

Obviously fake while also making a lot of sense, these digitally made landscapes seemed to derive from the same worldview, being the collective narratives of some kind of new reality.

NewHomeland.web is an interactive digital archive, a browser installation that compiles landscape images that have been widely circulated online.
Viewers can transform the images—duplicating, resizing, rotating, and moving them around to compose new landscapes, much like in an image editing program. The reproduction and synthetization celebrate the fluidity of visual materials in digital culture, demonstrating the infinite possibilities of open resources in a shared environment.  All materials used to build the website are from open sources, including all images and HTML and CSS code.
