Braille Books

2025

This experiment seek to find ways to bridge the gap between visual and non-visual perceptions within the medium of printed publication, aiming to enable broader participation of the visually impared community.

I started with identifying key aspects of non-visual perception, after which I explored how meanings can be conveyed not relying on any visual properties but only the “spaces” on paper—positioning words in ways where their literal meanings align with their placements and the forms of paper.

This process, where the gesture of writing guides the “design” of the text, does not require the use of vision. Therefore it is possible to be carried out by the visually impared; and in its outcome, visual and non-visual readers can receive similar information from equal reading experiences.
