Title of Work
“How To Survive?” is a video that disguises itself as a wildlife documentary. Through an absurd narrative on camouflage stratagies, it questions the authenticity of images presented by Chinese mainstream media and reveals how public discourse is restricted by image censorship, seeking to inspire awareness among the public to protect their personal spaces for expression.
Chinese Mass media has always been selective in its content presentation, adopting more “protective measures” and showcasing increasingly “safe” images to the audiences. Recent democratic movements in China, which express the public’s needs through creative strategies that bypass censorship, have remind me again of the importance of protecting our voices and inspired me to explore alternative means of expression.
